Being optimistic is incredibly important to me. I think that having a positive way of thinking just makes everything so much more enjoyable and happy. Even when something is going terribly, smiling and marching through it is definitely the way to go. Even a fake smile is better than no smile, it'll trick your brain into thinking that you are happy, and you'll start to feel happier.
Some friends and I went into the city today, so I took a stack of post it notes in my bag, and on the train ride on the way to the city, we wrote a bunch of compliments on the post it notes, such as "Don't forget that you're an amazing person", or "Your awesomeness deserves a round of applause." Writing them on the train meant that our handwriting was pretty messy, so next time I'm definitely going to do it the night before!
As we walked around the city, we stuck the post it notes everywhere. On signs, in telephone boxes, on post boxes, on walls, in Federation Square, everywhere we could find that someone might see it.
I really hope that a lot of other people do this too, because who knows? You might make a strangers day that little bit better.
