Today I wanted to do a beauty post because it feels like it's been years since I've done one! I haven't done very many reviews so I decided to review two of my all time favourite lip colours- the Revlon ColourBurst matte balms.
above swatches - top: 205 Elusive, bottom: 225 Sultry
These are easily the most pigmented lipsticks I own, and they go on so smoothly - they're honestly a dream to wear. I've had them for a few months but have only really only started to wear them in the last month or so. I wear the slightly darker of the two, Sultry, all the time and I've gotten quite a few compliments on it! It's a gorgeous dark berry red that goes with pretty much everything I own, which isn't actually that hard because I mostly wear neutrals. Yay me.
The more pink-y one, Elusive, I haven't worn quite as much because I usually go for red over pink lip colours (side note- that's actually super weird because while I love pink, I hate red and wouldn't be seen dead wearing it. Except for on my lips).
I find they have an almost minty fragrance? They taste minty too, and although I found it really weird and almost off putting at first, I now kind of like it and don't really notice it so much. As for the consistency of the lipsticks, they feel really creamy and moisturising. Unlike so many other matte lip colours I've tried, it doesn't dry my lips out at all! I have noticed that they don't seem to stay on quite as long as other matte lip colours, and I'm supposing that's because they don't dry quite the same way others do, but I'm willing to top up every now and then in exchange for super soft lips. In saying that- they still do stay on for hours. I was wearing Sultry earlier today whilst we were shooting an outfit post and I haven't got around to taking off my makeup yet, and it's still on.
And of course, matte lip colours look best on gorgeously smooth lips! Lush's bubblegum Lip Scrub has been my favourite lip scrub for a long time and I always use it before putting on a matte lipstick. It tastes amazing, although if you aren't a fan of sugary sweet I'd go for one of their other flavours. They do another one I like called Mint Julips, but the bubblegum one is my favourite by far. You best believe it takes all my self control to not whip out a spoon and eat it that way.
