Something that I've been struggling a lot with lately is getting stuff done. I just procrastinate, all day long, until I realise that I've spent the whole day doing nothing useful. And then the same thing happens the next day. So I looked at a few tips that other people have used to get their procrastination under to control, and I thought I'd share a few of my favourites.
I hope that was helpful guys! Also, happy ninth day of Blogmas! It's only fifteen days till Christmas now. I can't wait! So much love,
For day 2 of Blogmas, I decided to film a video sharing a few blogging and Instagram tips. It's been so long since I've sat down and filmed, I've missed it so much!
I'm not claiming to know everything about blogging or Instagram, because I definitely don't know everything, but I do feel like I've learnt quite a bit since I've started and I just wanted to share what I do know. I hope you find this helpful in some way!
I hope this is helpful in some way! If you aren't a blogger it's probably a bit useless, but I suppose it might give you a bit of an insight into what we do?
I go into more detail in the video, but these are just the basic tips.
I'm sorry this is going up a bit late in the evening (still, it's before ten so I'm going to count it as a win). I'm pretty excited for tomorrows post, I think you'll love it!
Now I'm going to have a shower and call it a day, I can't stop yawning. Sleep tight,
Avoid comparing yourself to others.
Your friend might be brilliant at maths, and you aren't so great at maths. It doesn't mean you aren't smart, you're just good at other things. Even if there isn't a single school subject you do well in, it doesn't mean you're stupid. You might be good at pottery, or building robots, or maybe you're the best knitter ever. Comparing yourself to others can you make you feel really bad about yourself, when there is absolutely no reason to! You are smart, but not everyone can be good at every subject.
Eat proper foods.
So many people skip breakfast. Don't! Your brain doesn't work as well if you have no energy because you haven't been eating. Eat lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, cut out on the chocolate and chips.
Breathe in, and out.
If you feel yourself freaking out, whilst your studying or during the exam itself, take a minute to relax and breathe in and out slowly. Count to five as you inhale, and again as you exhale.
Get a lot of zzzzz.
Eight hours of sleep a night is the recommended amount! Staying up till three in the morning studying the night before your exam might seem like a good idea, but you will be too tired to think straight the next day. Don't use your phone or other screens for an hour before you go to bed for a really good sleep.
Jog it off.
Exercising de-stresses your mind ridiculously quickly. I like a sport that takes a lot of concentration, because you can't worry about something if you're concentrating, but that's just a personal preference. Some people like to do forms of exercise that needs no concentration - so they can focus on emptying their minds completely.
Maybe you just aren't an academic person. Maybe, it doesn't matter how hard you try, and how long you spend studying, you still won't be the top of the class. By setting yourself a realistic expectation of how you think you'll go, it takes a lot of pressure off. Aiming high is fantastic, but aiming for something unrealistic means that you'll feel bad for not getting to your goal, even if you still did well.
If you're feeling really stressed and you don't think you can cope, tell someone. Talking to someone you trust, be it a friend, parent, sibling, teacher, or some random you met five minutes ago, telling someone that you're stressed or worried relieves some of that stress. If you really aren't coping and your school or university has a psychologist, you could always speak to them.
This is the first blog post I've written using my new laptop, which is too exciting! The other day my parents surprised me with a MacBook Air as an early birthday + very early Christmas present, and I'm honestly so shocked, and quite chuffed.
I'm really excited about having iMovie and other programs that you can't use on other computers, because I'd like to start a YouTube channel soon. I've wanted to for a while, but I wanted to wait till I had proper editing programs.
Would you be interested in watching my videos? What programs do you use to edit videos? Tell me in the comments below!
